Bertil Mårtensson

Bertil Mårtensson (* 1945 in Malmö ; † November 4, 2018 in Helsingborg ) was a Swedish science fiction and crime writer and philosopher.

Life

Mårtensson began reading science fiction in the mid-1950s and was active in the Swedish SF fandom from 1962 . He has edited several fanzines and published numerous literary and critical articles in the 1960s and then again in the 1990s. A first short story, Urhemmet (“Urheimat”), appeared in 1963, and in 1968 his first novel, Detta är verkligheten (“This is reality”). From 1979 Maktens Vägar ("Streets of Power"), a loosely coupled fantasy romance trilogy, appeared. In addition to his science fiction and fantasy books, he also wrote several crime novels. In 1977 he was awarded the Sherlock Prize by the Swedish newspaper Expressen for the novel Växande hot .

He was a lecturer in philosophy and philosophy of science at Umeå University and lecturer in theoretical philosophy at Lund University and author of several textbooks on philosophy.
