Bertram Blum

Bertram Blum (born April 29, 1950 in Neuleiningen ) is a German Catholic theologian and adult educator .

Career

After graduating from the Staatl. In the old-language grammar school in Speyer , Bertram Blum studied philosophy and catholic theology from 1969 to 1974 at the Philosophical-Theological University, later on the Eichstätt Ecclesiastical University and at the Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg with a degree as a graduate theologian . 1974 to 1977 he studied history at the University of Würzburg . In 1977 the diocese of Eichstätt appointed him advisor for adult education in the episcopal ordinariate and director of the diocesan education organization . On his initiative, Bishop Alois Brems published the “Plan for Open Adult Education in the Diocese of Eichstätt” in 1980, the basis for the professional expansion of the Catholic educational institutions . In 1991 he became head of the continuing education department in the Episcopal Ordinariate.

In 1988 he was elected to the board of the Catholic Federal Association for Adult Education in Bonn (KBE) (until 2012), and from 1990 to 2006 he was chairman of the KBE commission for theology-belief-education. From 1990 to 1995 he completed a part-time doctorate in adult education at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt , which made him a Dr. phil. PhD.

In 1996 he also took over the management of the diocesan office for library work in the diocese and became diocesan director of the St. Michael's Federation . Appointed Episcopal Commissioner for Adult Education in 1999, he was elected Chairman of the Conference of Episcopal Commissioners for Adult Education in the German Dioceses in 2000 , and at the same time he became Deputy Federal Chairman of the KBE (until 2006), from 2006 to 2012 he was Federal Chairman of Catholic Adult Education in Germany. In 2012 he retired and received the Bonifatius Medal of the German Bishops' Conference for his services to adult education . He is married and has four kids.

Act

In addition to theological and historical topics, the focus of his work was the theory and history of Catholic adult education, the theological justification of church educational work as a whole and its conceptual and practical implementation. From the winter semester 1984/85 to 2012 he took on teaching positions for adult education at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt.

From 1982 to 1990 he was honorary as deputy chairman of the diocesan council of Catholics in the diocese of Eichstätt and at the same time a member of the central committee of German Catholics . From 1996 to 2008 he was a board member of the Catholic State Working Group for Adult Education and a member of the education committee of the Catholic Academy in Bavaria . For this he received the thank you mark from Catholic Adult Education in Bavaria in 2008. From 2006 to 2012 he was editor of the adult education magazine . Since 1996 he has been a member of the state association of the Sankt Michaelsbund in Bavaria and since 2010 its deputy state chairman. In 2014 he was awarded the Klostertaler for his services to the educational work of the Benedictine Abbey of Plankstetten . Since 2015 he has been chairman of the Vinzenzverein für Sozialdienst der Stadtpfarrei Eichstätt e. V.

Since the beginning of his studies he was active in the Cartell Association of the Catholic German Student Associations (CV), as a senior of the KDStV Alcimonia Eichstätt , the KDStV Arminia Freiburg im Breisgau and the KDStV Markomannia Würzburg and between 1982 and 2018 three senior senior citizens of the Alcimonia Eichstätt.
