The vocational training in the army is the training within the civilian area of the Bundeswehr in 40 state-recognized training occupations at 120 locations in Germany and abroad. There are 32 training workshops and around 400 training facilities at the locations. The training lasts between 24 and 42 months, depending on the occupation, and takes place in the dual system . 250,000 soldiers of the Bundeswehr are supported by around 80,000 civilian employees. This makes the Bundeswehr one of the largest employers in Germany. The Bundeswehr provides 1,400 training positions every year. On average, there are 5,000 young people in civilian training in the Bundeswehr.

The Bundeswehr administration consists of two sub-areas. The territorial defense administration and the armaments sector.
