The BVM Professional Association of German Market and Social Researchers eV is an association representing the interests of market and social researchers in Germany. It was founded on March 3, 1955 in Hamburg as the Association of Industrial Market Researcher Germany eV . (VBM).

Structure and background

The association represents the interests of around 1,500 members. This includes market and social researchers in private or publicly organized organizations, in market research institutes and in academic research, independent consultants and field institutes. The tasks of the BVM include maintaining the reputation of market researchers and market research, increasing and further developing the qualifications of researchers and the quality of research, and expanding and strengthening the future opportunities of the industry and the researchers working in it. The association maintains connections to practitioners, universities and technical colleges as well as to the industry associations , Working Group of German Market and Social Research Institutes , Working Group of Social Science Institutes , German Society for Online Research , Association of Swiss Market and Social Research , VMÖ Association of Austrian Market Researchers and ESOMAR .

The association develops and supports initiatives to introduce quality standards, increase professional qualifications and public relations. At its annual specialist congress, the association has been awarding an industry award for innovation, personality / organization of the year and for young researchers of the year since 2005. Until 2011, a prize was also awarded in the “Best Study” category. Previous winners in the respective categories are:

The BVM also offers information on data protection , labor and tax law and other areas of law relating to market research on the BVM website. BVM members can use the expert service for questions about data protection and professional ethics .

Complaints Office: Council of German Market and Social Research
