Wulff Plinke (born October 4, 1942 in Braunschweig ) is a German economist .

Life

Wulff Plinke is the son of the commercial employee Ewald Plinke and graduated from the Goethe School in Bochum . He then completed a commercial apprenticeship at Deutsche Bank in Bochum. From 1964 he studied business administration at the University of Cologne . With a thesis on the management of capital flows in decentralized credit institutions , he received his doctorate in 1972 at the University of Bochum as a student of Werner Hans Engelhardt . After his habilitation in 1981, he worked as a professor of business administration at the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University in Hanover . In 1985 he moved to the Free University of Berlin to the full professorship for general business administration and from there in 1993 to the Humboldt University of Berlin to the chair for business administration with a focus on marketing . From 1993 to 1996, Wulff Plinke was the first dean of the economics faculty at Humboldt University after German reunification. From 1998 to 2001 he was chairman of the board of the Association of University Lecturers for Business Administration . In 1995 he was co-founder of the Economic Society at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin eV and its deputy chairman until 2006.

He was instrumental in founding the private European School of Management and Technology and was its founding dean from 2002 to 2011. Since then, as the successor to Clemens Börsig, he has been chairman of the board of the Friends and Supporters of ESMT eV, Berlin. From 2008 to 2013 he was a member of the University Council of the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster and its chairman from 2013 to 2018.

His research interests include corporate strategy in industrial markets, market-oriented management, relationship marketing , and pricing in industrial markets.
