Since 1974 the name of the association has been Community Association North-South . On January 1st, 2010 it merged with the Hanoverian Association of Regional Church Communities.

history

From the beginning there was a strong Pietist faction within the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Bessarabia, which - in addition to attending church services on Sundays as hourlists - gathered for their own prayer and Bible studies . About 8,000 people were assigned to her. They retained their spiritual character even after the resettlement from Bessarabia in 1940 ( Heim im Reich ) and cultivated them during the Second World War when they settled in Wartheland and in West Prussia . Bessarabian Germans, who came from there to West Germany after the war, founded the Bessarabian Community Association in December 1947 . In 1954 this association joined the Gnadauer Verband .

Further developments

The sphere of activity was initially limited to the narrow circle of Bessarabian compatriots. Local assemblies were formed especially in northern Germany ( Bremen area ) and southern Germany ( Baden-Württemberg ). Free time was offered and missionary activities carried out. Smaller diaconal institutions emerged, including a leisure home in Hohenböken / Ganderkesee and another in Schorndorf- Aichenbach.

These activities led to contacts with the resident German population and other refugee groups being established as early as the 1950s and 1960s. In 1974 this development was taken into account and the association was renamed the Evangelical Community Association North-South . He described his self-image as follows: “We are united by personal faith in Jesus Christ , the authoritative message of the Bible and God's missionary mandate to people in our presence. In a time of increasing isolation and loneliness, they find personal community in manageable circles and groups. "

At the beginning of 2010, after a year and a half of preparation with discussions at various levels, the North-South Community Association integrated itself into the Hanoverian Association of Regional Church Communities .

organization

The association was headed by a five-person executive board. The association's office was last in Ganderkesee.

The community association was divided into districts, in which so-called community hours took place regularly. The meetinghouses of the local Protestant congregations were often places of meeting.

The northern area comprised the following districts: Achim , Bokel-Cadenberge , Bookholzberg , Neu Wulmstorf and Schwanewede . The districts of the southern area had their headquarters in Schwäbisch Hall , Ludwigsburg and Reutlingen .

The districts were given pastoral care by three regional visiting services. Two magazines ( Nord-Süd-Kontakt , Seniorenbrief ) as well as supra-regional leisure activities also served to maintain contacts among the scattered members of the community association.
