action

The mafia hit man Jayne does not deliver the suitcase of her last victim to her client, but wants to leave Los Angeles with him and meet her business partner Alex in San Antonio . When single mother Emily cannot pay her mortgage payment, her sixteen-year-old son tries his hand at drug delivery. Before the handover, Kerry is robbed. Since his client thinks he is a thief, he shoots at his mother's house. Emily then decides to take Kerry to her mother's in San Antonio.

Since Emily's credit card is blocked, she cannot get tickets at the train station and has to drive in her old car. The mafia is looking for Jayne at the train station. Jayne tells Emily she needs to get to her seriously ill sister quickly. Since she would not get a ticket or a rental car, she is looking for a lift for a fee. Emily agrees to take her with her. Jayne tells Emily that she is a hit man with a stolen suitcase. Emily and Kerry think it's a joke. Jayne is almost run over by an inattentive driver in a rest stop parking lot. It is not enough for her to smash his window pane and scold him to flee. She steps on the gas pedal of Emily's car in order to follow the driver. This leads to an argument between Emily and Jayne and a little later the car breaks down. Jayne manages to reconcile with Emily by being able to flag out a tow truck and get a quick repair service and free rooms at a motel.

When Kerry is rummaging around in Jayne's room, he finds the suitcase and steals it. He's hitchhiking back to Los Angeles because he wants to pay his mother's mortgage debt. Jayne notices the missing suitcase, takes Emily hostage, and finds Kerry's letter. Jayne is able to shoot several Mafiosi they tracked down in the motel. Jayne promises Emily that if she gets her money back in Los Angeles, they will both live. Emily realizes that Jayne will not keep her promise in order not to be reported by them. With the help of irritant gas, she can escape from Emily's stolen car and hide without any money or papers. She is picked up by Alex, who is also an FBI agent and Jayne's business partner. When she initiates him, he offers her his help. Instead of calling the Los Angeles Police Department, he calls Jayne.

When the news reports that Jayne has taken Emily hostage, Kerry calls cop Mark Winston. This is on the Mafia's payroll and takes its head Frank Bianci with him as a partner . Meanwhile, Alex claims to Emily that he has been undercover for a long time against Jayne for shooting his former partner. Emily doesn't trust him, though. When Kerry becomes suspicious of Frank, they try to force him to hand over the money by force of arms. Jayne shoots both of them. When she hears police sirens, she takes Kerry hostage and flees to an abandoned factory without the money. Jayne calls Alex, who forces Emily to take him to the factory with the money. Emily secretly pockets a gun and overwhelms Alex on the way. Jayne forces Emily to release Alex. Alex throws the open suitcase at her, but can't shoot as fast as Jayne. In a scuffle with Jayne, Emily is able to take the gun from her and shoot her. Emily gets a reward but wants to sell her house. Alex survives and invites her to dinner.

Reviews

"Road movie thriller with concentrated female power, which does not represent any emancipatory positions, but at least delivers solidly staged" trash "."
