Betten ( Lower Sorbian Butyń ) is a district of the municipality of Massen-Niederlausitz and is located in the south of Brandenburg in the Elbe-Elster district .
The place extends along the B 96 , eight kilometers away from Finsterwalde . The church has a Gothic altar with figures .

The place is first mentioned in 1346 as Bettyn . This name is of Lower Sorbian origin and means "property village, settlement of Byt (a)". The Lower Sorbian proper name “Byt (a)” is a short form of the names “Drogobyt” and “Samobyt”, these are in turn a combination of “drogi”, “expensive” or “sam”, “alone” and “byti”, to be; dwell '.
