The railway stop Bettmannsäge

Bettmannsäge is a village in the Bavarian Forest belonging to the town of Regen . About 150 people live here.

location

Bettmannsäge is located between Zwiesel and Regen on the Plattling - Bayerisch Eisenstein line , the so-called Bavarian Forest Railway .

history

The name of the place goes back to a large sawmill that was built on the banks of the Black Rain . On May 1, 1898, it was given its own stop on the railway line. The sawmill was connected to the main line with a loading platform, and a turntable could be used to turn the wagons into the various works tracks.

Since the owner of the sawmill was Jewish , the place was renamed Regentalsäge on October 4, 1936 during the National Socialist era . On May 14, 1950, the company was renamed Bettmannsäge again . After the company was dissolved in 1950, the loading track was dismantled in 1951.

Bettmannsäge belonged to the municipality of Rinchnachmündt and was incorporated into the city of Regen as part of the municipal reform on May 1, 1978.
