Between is a Canadian - American science fiction series, which for the first time on May 21, 2015 City broadcast and Netflix via stream was published. Jennette McCurdy plays the pregnant teenager Wiley Day, who lives in the quarantined town of Pretty Lake, Canada. The series was penned by Michael McGowan , who developed the film Saint Ralph - Miracles Are Possible . The series was discontinued after two seasons with twelve episodes because no third season was ordered.

Suddenly deaths are piling up in the Canadian town of Pretty Lake. All victims are older than 21 years. After more than 2,000 adults died without a known cause within a few days, the government decided to use the military to cordon off the entire city from the outside world. Wiley, who is struggling to survive with her boyfriend Adam and her baby, is among those imprisoned.

Six episodes of the series were ordered, each with a length of approx. 43 minutes. It is produced as part of a collaboration between the Canadian TV station City and the video streaming service Netflix . Production began on October 20, 2014. It was first released on May 21, 2015. An eight two-minute episode web series called Between the Lines shows the character Amanda interviewing students for the yearbook. It appears weekly on the City broadcaster's website.

In July 2015, Netflix extended the series for a second season with a further six episodes. Filming began in mid-January 2016 and continued through mid-March. Steven Grayhm and Mercedes Morris have been cast for new roles.

Cast and dubbing

The German-language synchronization was created by Studio Hamburg Synchron . The author of the dialogue books for both seasons was Luise Charlotte Brings, who also directed the dialogue for season 1, alternating with Zoë Beck . Cindy Beier worked as a dialogue director for season 2.

In Canada, Between was shown on City TV. The first season was broadcast from May 21st to June 25th, 2015. The streaming rights are owned by Shomi in Canada and by Netflix in other countries, which also offers synchronized versions in German, Portuguese, French, Spanish and Japanese. The episodes are available there a few hours after the US premiere in the original sound and in the German dubbed version.

The second season has been available on Netflix since July 1, 2016.
