Biel is the name of a Mecklenburg noble family .

history

With a diploma dated November 12, 1791, Emperor Leopold II raised the ducal Braunschweig's secret judicial council and dean of the St. Blasius monastery Christian Andreas Biel on Zierow in Mecklenburg to the imperial nobility . In 1795 he founded the Von Bielsche Endowment Foundation , which deals with the payment of bridal treasures .

The Russian lieutenant captain von Biel, who received both the Estonian and the Livonian indigenous (No. 191), does not belong to this family, nor does it belong to this family, as does confusion with the likewise Baltic von Bühl auf Heimar , for which Christian Justin Bühl acquired the imperial nobility in 1744 to be excluded.

With a decree of October 14, 1865, the elevation to the Prussian baron was carried out under the law of the firstborn for Wilhelm von Biel on Zierow, Eggersdorf, Fliemsdorf, Weitendorf and Neujassewitz and his eldest son Thomson von Biel on Kalkhorst.

Heinrich von Biel (born September 4, 1898 in Wichmannsdorf (Kröpelin) , † 1960), the last landlord on Zierow, was the first mayor of Wismar appointed by the British after the Second World War and then emigrated to the USA.
