El Playón is a municipality (municipio) in the department of Santander .

geography

El Playón is located in the province of Soto in the north of Santander at an altitude of around 450 meters and has an average annual temperature of around 28 ° C. The place is about 41 km from Bucaramanga . The municipality has an area of 467 km², 6 km² of which are in the urban part of the municipality. Adjacent to the community in the north and west Cachira in the department of Norte de Santander , the south and west Rionegro and east Surata .

history

El Playón was settled from various surrounding communities from the 1930s. Since 1945 El Playón was a corregimiento of Rionegro. For the first time El Playón should be raised in 1979. However, due to a landslide, El Playón was initially unable to function as a community. Finally, the status as a municipality was initially withdrawn in mid-1984, before El Playón finally received this status at the end of 1984, which came into force in early 1985.
