Former town hall (Mairie) of Bignac

Bignac is a village and a former French community with 237 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Charente in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016 Poitou-Charentes ). It belonged to the arrondissement of Cognac and the canton of Val de Nouère (until 2015: canton of Rouillac ). The inhabitants are called Bignacais .

With effect from January 1, 2016, the former municipalities of Bignac and Genac were merged into a commune nouvelle called Genac-Bignac . The former municipalities have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Genac.

geography

Bignac is located about 16 kilometers north-northwest of Angoulême on the Charente River , which bounded the former municipality in the east.
