Mark Robert "Bill" Bailey (born January 13, 1964 in Bath ) is an English comedian , musician and actor . He was best known for his role in the British sitcom Black Books . He was listed in the Observer's 2003 list as one of the 50 funniest British people.

Life

Bailey was born in Bath to a doctor and head nurse . He spent most of his childhood in Keynsham , a city between Bath and Bristol in south-west England . Although his academic achievements at King Edward's School in Bath were affected by membership in the school band Behind Closed Doors at the age of 15 , he was the only one at his school to take music in his A-Level (Abitur) and graduated outstanding (very good). The nickname “Bill” was coined by a music teacher because Bailey wrote the song “ Bill Bailey, Won't You Please Come Home? “Played the guitar very well. An English literature degree at Westfield College of the University of London he dropped out after one year, but received at the London College of Music of the University of West London , a Associateship Diploma .
