Wilbert Bowes

Wilbert "Bill" O. Bowes (* 1925 - March 21, 2008 in Kingston ) was a Jamaican police officer and chief of police (Police Commissioner).

Life

Bowes joined the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), founded by the British in 1867 on August 16, 1943 . Eight years later he was promoted to Corporal of Police for the first time . He served through all ranks and was promoted to Commissioner of Police, the highest rank in the Jamaican police force, in August 1980. For health reasons he retired early in April 1982 after 39 years of service.

Bowes died in March 2008 at the University Hospital of the West Indies , Kingston, and was buried in Dovecot Memorial Park .
