Bilal "Bill" Abdul Hamid (born November 25, 1990 in Annandale , Virginia ) is an American football player . His parents are from Sierra Leone .

Career

Hamid was signed as the first player on September 2, 2009 by DC United from their academy. Unlike most American football players, he was not drafted by a college. Before joining United's first team, he had an offer from Celtic Glasgow , but could not play there due to a lack of work permits.

Hamid made his debut on May 5, 2010 against the Kansas City Wizards . DC United won the game, setting Tim Howard's record for becoming the youngest goalkeeper in MLS history to win a game. During the 2011 season Hamid was in 28 of 34 games on the field. In the years to come, he was able to keep his regular place in United's goal.

During the winter break of the 2017/18 season he moved to Denmark to FC Midtjylland in the Superliga . There he was on the pitch for the reserve team three times in the 2017/2018 season. For the first team, he completed a game in the Alka Superligaen championship round and in the DBU Landspokal.

In August 2018 it was loaned to his former club DC United for a year.

National team

Hamid was first called up to the United States national team in 2011 . He played his first international game on January 21, 2012 against Venezuela .
