Erik Sorga (* 8. July 1999 in Tallinn ) is an Estonian footballer who in the MLS - Franchise D.C. United is under contract. The striker has been an Estonian international since June 2019 .

He became the top scorer in the Estonian league with 31 goals in the 2019 game year .

Erik Sorga, who was born in the Estonian capital Tallinn , began his football training in 2007 at FC Štrommi and joined the youth team of the Tallinna JK Legion in January 2008 . There he played in various junior teams and had been in action for the U17 team since the 2014 game year. In the next season, 2015, the striker scored 26 goals in 15 league games and in February 2016 moved to the U21 team of FC Flora Tallinn , which played in the second-highest Estonian division . As a 16-year-old, he became the team's top scorer in his first season in 2016. On September 23, 2016 (31st matchday) he made his debut in a 4-0 home win against JK Tarvas Rakvere in the first division when he came on for Rauno Alliku in the 61st minute . In the rest of the 2016 season he played another league game for the first team and scored 17 goals in 30 appearances for the reserve.

In the following 2017 season, he shuttled between the first team and the reserve. On May 5, 2017 (10th match day) he scored his first league goal for the first team in a 7-0 home win against JK Tulevik Viljandi . This was his only hit in eight league games for the men's selection, while he scored 13 times for the reserves. In March 2018, he scored nine goals in three league games for the reserve and then appeared more and more in the Meistriliiga. On May 9, 2018, he scored seven goals in the 9-3 win against the U21 Floras in the semi-finals of the Estonian Cup and prepared another goal. In this 2018 game year , he scored nine times in 27 men's league games. In addition, he was the top scorer in this competition with 16 goals in seven cup games.

In the following 2019 season , he also made his breakthrough in the league championship. He established himself as an undisputed regular player and became the top scorer with 31 goals in 34 league games, ahead of Nikita Andreev with 13 goals. With his excellent quota, he also made a decisive contribution to Flora's championship title. In three cup games, Sorga scored 13 times, ending the season with 44 goals in 38 competitive games for Flora. This made him one of the most successful strikers of the year worldwide in 2019.

On January 8, 2020, Erik Sorga moved to MLS - Franchise D.C. for a transfer fee of 450,000 euros . United , where he signed a three-year deal. He was in the starting line-up in the 2-1 home win against Inter Miami on the first day of the 2020 season.

National team

Erik Sorga played international matches for the U16 , U17 and U18 in Estonia before playing for the U19 for the first time in December 2015 . By October 2017, he played 33 times for this selection and was able to score seven goals in these games, making him one of the most frequently used players and one of the top scorers of the U19s. In March 2019, he made three international matches for the U21s .
