Aleksandrs Čekulajevs (born September 10, 1985 in Riga , Latvian SSR , Soviet Union ; Russian Александр Чекулаев / Alexander Tschekulajew ) is a Latvian football player .
Career
Aleksandrs Čekulajevs began his professional career in his hometown with FK Riga , where he played his first season at the age of 21. In the first division, however, this could not convince, whereupon Čekulajevs left the club at the end of the season and signed with FK Auda Riga, where Čekulajevs was already active in youth. At the Latvian second division club Čekulajevs, who had been a striker up until then, set a new record with 51 goals in 30 games, for example he scored six times against FK Abuls . At the end of the season he came with the club in third place in the table behind FK Vindava and SK Blāzma . At the beginning of the 2008 season, Čekulajevs moved to FK Jūrmala-VV from the Virslīga . After a brief stint at the Baltic Sea Club, he moved to the Czech Republic for the third division club FK Náchod-Deštné , before returning to FK Jūrmala in 2009.
In 2010 he went to Iceland to join UMF Víkingur . Just one year later, Čekulajevs moved to Estonia to JK Trans Narva . With the club he went straight to the cup final against FC Flora Tallinn , which was lost 2-0. In the league , the Latvian, who played in midfield at Trans Narva, led the table in the goalscorer list for the entire season. For example, Čekulajevs scored the first four goals on matchday 15 in a 7-0 win against FC Ajax Lasnamäe . After just 30 matchdays, Čekulajevs scored his 42nd goal and beat the record from the 2005 season by Tarmo Neemelo , who had 41 goals on the account at the end of the season. The Latvian wanted to recommend himself to other foreign clubs in Scandinavia, Belgium and Germany because of his scoring danger. At the end of the 2011 season , Čekulajevs scored 46 goals. Then he was invited to trial training by the German second division club MSV Duisburg in November 2011 . On February 8, 2012, he finally signed a contract with the Maltese champions, FC Valletta, for one season . With the club he was able to defend the championship from the previous year at the end of the season. Čekulajevs left Malta again during the summer break and moved to Hungary to FC Lombard Pápa .
