Paul Joseph Arriola Hendricks (born February 5, 1995 in Chula Vista , California ) is an American football player .

The striker currently plays for the US first division club DC United .

Life

Paul Arriola is from Chula Vista , a suburb of San Diego . The American has Mexican ancestry and his grandparents are immigrants. In his hometown, he attended Mater Dei Catholic High School. In addition to the US-American, he also has the Mexican citizenship.

Career

youth

Arriola attended IMG Academy in Bradenton , Florida and attended it for two years. He then played for Arsenal FC in Temecula , California . In 2012 he switched to the LA Galaxy Academy program .

Professional in Mexico

In December 2012, Arriola was invited to a trial training session by Club Tijuana . He had previously auditioned for the Mexican first division club. Tijuana signed the striker after he canceled an offer from LA Galaxy .

On July 19, 2013 he made his debut in the Liga MX .

Return to the USA

On August 9, 2017, Arriola joined DC United.

National team

Since the age of 15 Arriola was represented in various youth national teams in the USA. He took part in the 2011 CONCACAF U-17 Championship , but was unable to play there due to an injury. At the 2011 U-17 World Cup , he was on the pitch in all four games. In 2013 he took part in a trip to Europe with the U-18 national team, where the team played various test matches. As part of the US U-20 national team , he took part in the 2015 U-20 World Cup and reached the quarter-finals of the tournament.

On May 22, 2016, Arriola made his debut for the United States national soccer team in a friendly against Puerto Rico . In the game he scored his first international goal.
