| Qualification for | U-17 soccer World Cup |
The CONCACAF U-17 Championship ( English CONCACAF Men's Under-17 Championship ) is a football competition between the best teams in North and Central America and the Caribbean for male football players under the age of 17. In addition, the tournament will be used to qualify for the U-17 World Cup.
For the first time it was held in 1983 as a U-16 competition. The format of the tournament has changed several times over the years. From 1991 the competition was adapted to the FIFA age limits and played as an U-17 tournament. In the years 1999 to 2007, the tournament only served as a qualification for the U-20 World Cup and was thus held under the name Qualification for the FIFA U-17 World Cup . The tournament has been called the CONCACAF U-17 Championship since 2009 and took place with 8 teams, which were to determine the participants for the semi-finals in two groups of four. However, due to the influenza pandemic in 2009, no tournament winner was played, so that the already established qualification of the group first and second for the U-17 World Cup remained. In the 2011 draw, 12 teams in four groups of three took part in the tournament for the first time.

Qualification for the U-17 World Cup
From 1999 onwards, the tournament mainly served to qualify for the World Cup. The format was changed and kept in this form until 2007. The best eight teams from North and Central America and the Caribbean were divided into two groups of four teams. Two separate tournaments were held in each of the participating countries, the two group winners or, if applicable, the winner of the play-offs between the two runners-up in the group qualified for the U-17 soccer world championship.
