William (Bill) Henry Walker (born October 9, 1987 in Huntington , West Virginia ) is an American basketball player who last played for the New York Knicks in the NBA . He currently plays for the Austin Toros in the NBA Development League .

High school and college

Walker played for three years at North College Hill High School near Cincinnati . Together with OJ Mayo , who also plays in the NBA today, he led his team to two divisional titles in the Ohio Division III and was considered a great high school talent with many awards.

Walker had offers from many colleges and chose Kansas State University as a top address for basketball. Despite some injuries, Walker played two very convincing years in Kansas and decided, along with Michael Beasley , to sign up for the 2008 NBA Draft.

NBA

During a workout, he seriously injured his knee, which is why he was only selected in 47th place by the Washington Wizards . There, however, it was immediately traded to the Boston Celtics .

Due to his injury and high competition at the beginning of the season, Walker never really found a foothold in Doc Rivers' rotation . So he was sent to the NBA Development League for the Utah Flash in November , but was ordered back two months later due to staff shortages. The same thing happened to Walker a year later. From December 23, 2009 he was back in the roster of the Boston Celtics . On February 18, the day of the trading deadline, Walker was traded with JR Giddens and Eddie House in the New York Knicks . With his new coach Mike D'Antoni he got significantly more playing time and was even allowed to start.

After D'Antoni was dismissed during the 2011/2012 season, Walker's playing time also fell again and he finally did not receive a new contract in New York for the 2012/2013 season. After Walker could not find a new club at first, he decided in February 2013 to sign a contract in the NBA Development League. Walker joined the San Antonio Spurs ' farm team , the Austin Toros .
