Billy DeVore
Louis "Billy" Devore (born September 12, 1910 in St. John , Kansas , † August 12, 1985 in Indianapolis , Indiana ) was an American racing driver .
Career
He was the son of pre- World War II racing driver Earl Devore and his wife Ann. The parents were on board the passenger liner Vestris when it sank in the Atlantic in November 1928. The mother survived, the father perished.
After taking part in the Indianapolis 500 several times between 1937 and 1948 , he tried in vain in 1950 and 1954 to qualify for the race, which was then part of the Formula 1 World Drivers' Championship.
