Billy Ray
Billy Ray (born September 21, 1971 in Tennessee ) is an American screenwriter and film director .
Life
Ray has appeared as a screenwriter for film and television since the early 1990s. In the middle of this decade, the short-lived television series Earth 2 was created based on his ideas .
In 2003 Ray made his directorial debut with the thriller Shattered Glass and he also wrote the screenplay. For this he was nominated for best screenplay at the Independent Spirit Awards 2004 . In 2007, his second film as a director followed with Unmasked - Treason at the highest level . He was also involved in this as a screenwriter.
For his screenplay for Captain Phillips , Ray was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Adapted Screenplay in 2014 . He was also nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay at the British Academy Film Awards 2014 .
