The Haundorfer Weiher is a pond west of Eichenberg and about one kilometer southwest of the eponymous place Haundorf , a municipality in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen . The Büchelberg is not far away .
The 13 hectare pond is fed by the Auerbach and Wesigraben streams from the east ; the Haundorfer Weihergraben drains it westwards to the Nesselbach . The Haundorfer Weiher is the largest lake in a chain of ponds, to which, in addition to some smaller still waters , the Schleissbühl pond to the west belongs. Not too far away are other lakes, namely near to the northwest of the Holzweiher , further to the southeast along the Laubenzedeler Mühlbach the Eichenberger , Schnacken- , Brander- and Speckweiher .
Immediately in front of the pond on the east side on the other side of a narrow causeway are two smaller ponds of 1.1 ha (northern pre-pond) and 1.5 ha (southern pre-pond), through which a short meadow inflow or the Wesigraben run towards it.
Since the water in the Franconian Lake District is close to the Altmühlsee , it is also used more and more as a bathing lake. There is a parking lot just a hundred meters from the north bank, and there are also tent facilities nearby. An educational pond follows the bank .
