Pond |
The colloquially as Schnackensee called whistles Weiher is a pond in the municipality of the city of Gunzenhausen . As part of the Franconian Lake District and the nearby Altmühlsee , the pond is increasingly being used as a bathing opportunity.
The body of water is near Geislohe , a district of the Haundorf municipality in the Weissenburg-Gunzenhausen district in Central Franconia , west of Graefensteinberg and about three kilometers south of the center of Haundorf. Names refer to west adjoining wilderness and whistles mill .
The approximately 4 hectare large body of water is traversed by the Laubenzedeler Mühlbach and also fed by the Geislohergraben . The Schnackenweiher belongs to a chain of ponds together with smaller still waters directly to the north and east as well as the Eichenberger Weiher , Speckweiher and Branderweiher further to the northeast . There are several connections to several of these ponds and to the Koppenweihergraben flowing south . The Kästleinsweiher, about 600 meters away as the crow flies , and the Schleißbühlweiher and Haundorfer Weiher in the northwest are not part of the pond chain . The pond is home to carp , white fish , grass carp , pike , pikeperch , sturgeon and catfish . The municipality border with Haundorf lies directly on the northern and eastern banks.
