Birkach is a district in the south of Stuttgart , on the Filder plain near Hohenheim Palace .

Administrative history

Birkach was incorporated into Stuttgart on April 1, 1942 and then run as a district. When the city of Stuttgart was divided into districts in 1956, Birkach was combined with the Schönberg district (expanded 1956/57), which had been created since 1900 and was named after a field name, to form the Birkach district , which, however , is managed in personal union with the neighboring district of Plieningen . Both city districts also have a common district town hall in Plieningen.

When the Stuttgart districts were reorganized on January 1, 2001, the Birkach district was divided into the two districts of Birkach-Nord and Birkach-Süd . With Schönberg , the Birkach district has since consisted of three districts .
