Diocese of Aléria
The Diocese of Aleria ( lat. : Dioecesis Aleriensis ) was one in France situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Aleria .
history
The diocese of Aléria was established in the 6th century . First Bishop was Severinus . On April 27, 1092 the diocese of Aléria was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Pisa as a suffragan by Pope Urban II with the Papal Bull Cum universis .
On November 29, 1801, the Diocese of Aléria was dissolved as a result of the Concordat of 1801 by Pope Pius VII with the Papal Bull Qui Christi Domini and the territory was annexed to the Diocese of Ajaccio .
In 1770 the Diocese of Aléria comprised around 160 parishes .
In April 2002 the diocese of Aléria was re-established as the titular diocese of Aleria .
