history

The diocese Caacupé was on August 2, 1960 by Pope John XXIII. Erected as a territorial prelature Caacupé from the cession of territory by the Archdiocese of Asunción and the Diocese of Concepción en Paraguay . The territorial prelature was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Asunción as a suffragan . On March 29, 1967, the territorial prelature Caacupé was raised to the diocese.
