history
The diocese of Chascomús was established on March 27, 1980 by Pope John Paul II with the papal bull Universum dominicum gregem from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of La Plata and the Diocese of Mar del Plata . It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of La Plata as a suffragan .
