The diocese of Mar del Plata ( lat. : Dioecesis Maris Platensis , span. : Diócesis de Mar del Plata ) is an in Argentina situated Roman Catholic diocese , based in Mar del Plata .
history
The diocese of Mar del Plata was founded on February 11, 1957 by Pope Pius XII. Erected from cessions of territory by the Archdiocese of La Plata and the Diocese of Bahía Blanca . On March 27, 1980, the Diocese of Mar del Plata gave up parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Chascomus . The diocese of Mar del Plata is subordinate to the Archdiocese of La Plata as a suffragan .
