history

The diocese Jowai was on January 28, 2006 by Pope Benedict XVI. established with the Apostolic Constitution Vigili cum cura from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Shillong and subordinated to this as a suffragan . Its territory includes the East Jaintia Hills and West Jaintia Hills districts .
