Vincent Kympat

Vincent Kympat (born December 17, 1946 in Mawsutong, Tluh, India , † July 30, 2011 in Jowai , India) was the Roman Catholic Bishop of Jowai .

Life

Vincent Kympat studied Philosophy at Christ King College in Shillong from 1969 to 1976 and Catholic Theology at Sacred Heart Seminary in Poonamallee , Tamil Nadu, and was ordained a priest on January 23, 1977 . He was incardinated in the Archdiocese of Shillong and was pastor and director of the Catechists Training Center in Marbisu (1977/78) and Jowai (1983/86). From 1986 to 1989 he completed a doctoral degree in Education and Catechism at the Pontifical Salesian University in Rome . During this time he took over vacation substitutes in Ramstein and Landstuhl . In 1989 he became a pastor in Jowai. From 1993 to 1996 he was Rector of Christ King College in Shillong and visiting professor at Oriens Theological College and Sacred Heard Theological College . He was director of the Laity Formation Center in Shillong from 1996 to 2005 . From 2005 to 2006 he was director of the Rympei ki Paidbah .

In 2006 he was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed first bishop of the Jowai Diocese of Northeast India in the Archdiocese of Shillong . The episcopal ordination received his Archbishop Pedro Lopez Quintana , Apostolic Nuncio in India; Co- consecrators were Dominic Jala SDB , Archbishop of Shillong, and Joseph Mittathany , Archbishop of Imphal .

Vincent Kympat died in Jowai City Hospital.
