The Diocese of Kumbakonam ( lat. : Dioecesis Kumbakonamensis ) is in India situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Kumbakonam .
history
The diocese of Kumbakonam was on September 1, 1899 by Pope Leo XIII. built from cession of the Archdiocese of Pondicherry and subordinated to this as a suffragan . On May 26, 1930, the diocese of Kumbakonam gave up parts of its territory to establish the diocese of Salem .

The diocese of Kumbakonam comprises twelve taluks in the districts of Perambalur , Thanjavur , Tiruvarur , Tiruchirappalli and South Arcot in the state of Tamil Nadu .
