The Bistum Lindi ( lat. : Dioecesis Lindiensis ) is an in Tanzania preferred Roman Catholic diocese based in Lindi .

history

The diocese Lindi was on August 5, 1963 by Pope Paul VI. Established with the Apostolic Constitution Quotiens datur from cession of territory by the territorial abbey of Ndanda as the diocese of Nachingwea and subordinated to the archdiocese of Dar es Salaam as a suffragan . On October 17, 1986, the Diocese of Nachingwea gave parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Tunduru-Masasi . The Diocese of Nachingwea was renamed the Diocese of Lindi on October 17, 1986 . On November 18, 1987, it was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Songea as a suffragan.
