The Bistum Pyay ( lat. : Dioecesis Pyayensis ) is an in Myanmar preferred Roman Catholic diocese based in Pyay .

history

Pope Pius XII founded the Apostolic Prefecture Akyab on July 9, 1940 from cession of the diocese of Chittagong . On September 19, 1957, it took the name Prome Apostolic Prefecture .

With the Apostolic Constitution Cum in iis she was raised on February 21, 1961 to the rank of diocese, which was subordinate to the Archdiocese of Rangoon as a suffragan . On October 8, 1991, the diocese took its current name.
