The Diocese of Roseau ( Latin : Dioecesis Rosensis ) is a Roman Catholic diocese based in Roseau on Dominica .
history
Pope Pius IX founded on April 30, 1850 the diocese from cession of territory of the Apostolic Vicariate Trinidad and subordinated it to this as a suffragan . On January 16, 1971, it lost parts of its territory in favor of the newly established diocese of Saint John’s .
On November 18, 1974 it was assigned to the ecclesiastical province of Castries.
Pastoral care
Since 1997, the priests have been supported in pastoral care by voluntary pastoral workers ( Lay Associates in Pastoral Care ). Each Lay Associate in Pastoral Care (LAPC) is appointed to serve by the bishop upon completion of their training.
