The diocese of Saint John's-Basseterre ( Latin Dioecesis Sancti Ioannis Imatelluranus ) is a Roman Catholic diocese based in Saint John's on Antigua in the Caribbean . It includes the states of Antigua and Barbuda and St. Kitts and Nevis as well as the British overseas territories of Anguilla , British Virgin Islands and Montserrat .

history

The diocese of Saint John's-Basseterre was founded on January 16, 1971 by Pope Paul VI. established with the Apostolic Constitution Cum nobis from cession of territory by the Diocese of Roseau as the Diocese of Saint John’s . On June 21, 1981, the diocese of Saint John's was renamed the Diocese of Saint John's-Basseterre .

It is subordinate to the Archdiocese of Castries as a suffragan .
