Edward Joseph Gilbert

Edward Joseph Gilbert CSsR (born December 26, 1936 in Brooklyn ) is an American clergyman and old archbishop of Port of Spain .

Life

Edward Joseph Gilbert joined the Congregation of the Redemptorists in and received on 21 June 1964, the priestly ordination .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Roseau on July 1, 1994 . The episcopal ordination donated him the Archbishop of Castries , Kelvin Edward Felix , on September 7th of the same year; Co- consecrators were Ronald Gerard Connors CSsR, Bishop of San Juan de la Maguana , and Eustaquio Pastor Cuquejo Verga CSsR, Military Bishop of Paraguay .

He was named Archbishop of Port of Spain on March 21, 2001 and was introduced to the office on May 5 of the same year. On December 26, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
