The Bistum Ruyigi ( lat. : Dioecesis Ruyigiensis ) is an in Burundi preferred Roman Catholic diocese based in Ruyigi .

history

The Diocese of Ruyigi was on April 13, 1973 by Pope Paul VI. Erected with the Apostolic Constitution Ex quo Christ from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Gitega and the Diocese of Ngozi and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Gitega as a suffragan . On January 17, 2009, the Diocese of Ruyigi gave parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Rutana .
