The diocese of Sindhudurg ( Latin : Dioecesis Sindhudurgiensis ) is a Roman Catholic diocese in India . It is the only suffragan diocese of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman . The diocese consists of the districts of Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri , as well as parts of the Kolhapur district in the south of Maharashtra .

history

The diocese of Sindhudurg was founded on July 5, 2005 by Pope Benedict XVI. Established with the Apostolic Constitution Ab oriente from cessions of territory from the diocese of Poona and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Bombay as a suffragan seat. Since November 26, 2006 the diocese has been subordinate to the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman as a suffragan diocese.
