The Diocese of Chongli-Xiwanzi ( Latin : Dioecesis Sivanzeanus ) is a Roman Catholic diocese based in Chongli in the People's Republic of China .
history
Pope Gregory XVI founded the Apostolic Vicariate Mongolia with the Breve Cum per similes on August 28, 1840 from cession of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate Liaodong . It took the name Apostolic Vicariate of Central Mongolia on December 21, 1883.
On March 14, 1922, it took the name Apostolic Vicariate Chahar and on December 3, 1924 the name Apostolic Vicariate Siwantze . With the Apostolic Constitution Quotidie Nos it was raised to the diocese on April 11, 1946.
In 1980 the Chinese government united the dioceses of Xiwanzi and Xuanhua to form the diocese of Zhangjiakou , which was not recognized by the Holy See . Auxiliary Bishop Leo Yao Liang , secretly ordained a priest in 2002, served as the diocese's aid, had been arrested repeatedly for refusing to join the Chinese Catholic Patriotic Association . - December 21, 1883 to the Apostolic Vicariate of Eastern Mongolia ;
