history

The diocese of Wamba was on March 10, 1949 by Pope Pius XII. established with the Apostolic Constitution Evangelizationis inter infideles from cessions of territory of the Apostolic Vicariate Stanley Falls as Apostolic Vicariate Wamba . On November 10, 1959, the Vicariate Apostolic Wamba by Pope John XXIII. with the Apostolic Constitution Cum parvulum raised to the diocese.

The diocese of Wamba is subordinate to the Archdiocese of Kisangani as a suffragan .
