bitComposer Interactive GmbH , known under the name bitComposer Games , is a German publisher for computer games from Eschborn .

history

The company was founded in March 2009 as bitcomposer Games GmbH and first appeared in July of the same year. In October it released the racing game Race On from SimBin Studios and in November the first person shooter Stalker: Call of Pripyat from GSC Game World .

In March 2010, the company announced that it had acquired the rights to the round strategy series Jagged Alliance from Strategy First and would continue the series. In September 2009 Schlag den Raab , the companion game for the eponymous program, was launched. The Wii version in particular proved to be successful, taking top position in the Wii sales charts in Germany and receiving a BIU Sales Award in gold for 100,000 copies sold. In December 2010 the online division bitcomposer Online was founded, in the same month the company also acquired the majority rights to G.Labs, provider of the online games Oil Imperium and Venetianer .

As of December 22, 2011, the company traded as the unlisted bitcomposer Entertainment AG, with the games and online divisions being continued. The share capital was increased to one million euros.

In February 2012 Jagged Alliance: Back in Action was released , the sequel to the former Sir Tech series originally announced as Jagged Alliance 3 , developed by the German studio Coreplay . It was a modern version of Jagged Alliance 2 , which, however, unlike its predecessor, used a real-time combat system with a pause function. In August 2012, a stand-alone add-on called Jagged Alliance: Crossfire was released . Bitcomposer had already secured the rights to the Infogrames title North & South from Atari SA in May 2012, and in June the company brought an adaptation for the iPad onto the market. The game led the sales charts of the best-selling apps in Germany and topped the strategy charts in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Greece. In December 2012, the company announced that it had acquired the Stalker trademark from Arkadi Strugazki . The presentation gave the impression that it was about the rights to the first- person shooter series STALKER from GSC Game World, for whose third title ( Call of Pripyat ) bitcomposer acted as publisher in the USA and Europe. GSC Game World contradicted this representation. BitComposer have only the license to the original literary work Roadside Picnic and its also as a stalker purchased titled film. However, all rights to the name STALKER (with dots), the content and the technology of the first-person shooter series would still be held by GSC Game World.

In 2013 bitcomposer supported the German developer Black Forest Games with the publication of its Kickstarter- financed jump 'n' run Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams via the console network Xbox Live . In 2014, the company brought the Kickstarter-financed role-playing game Shadowrun Returns to stationary retail.

At the end of November 2014, bitcomposer published the first half of the title Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms . A little later, on December 3, 2014, bitcomposer filed for bankruptcy (AG Frankfurt am Main, AZ 810 IN 1144/14) and the Frankfurt lawyer Robert Schiebe was appointed provisional asset and insolvency administrator. The reason given was "economic difficulties faced by suppliers in the development sector", as a result of which games had not been completed on time. With the search for a new investor, the company hoped to obtain new capital for the production of new titles. The operation was initially continued by the insolvency administration. The company was finally dissolved on January 15, 2015.

BitComposer Interactive GmbH was founded in July 2015 by Oliver Neupert and other shareholders. The new company is legally completely independent, but has been able to acquire all the name and trademark rights of bitComposer Entertainment AG in full.
