Bitou is a municipality in the Garden Route District, Western Cape Province in South Africa . In 2011 the population was 49,162 on a total area of 992 km². The seat of the municipal administration is Plettenberg Bay . Mayor is Peter Lobese.

In 2011 the community had 49,162 inhabitants. Of these, 45.2% were black, 31.2% colored and 16.9% white.
