Bittelbrunn is a district of Engen in the district of Konstanz in Baden-Württemberg .

Geographical location
Bittelbrunn is located on a plateau sloping to the south in the upper Hegau on the so-called Hegaualb . In good weather you have a beautiful view of the Hegau mountains and, in foehn weather, even of the Alps .

history
Bittelbrunn became known through the excavations in the Brudertal, where the Petersfels and the Hohle Fels were stations of the Stone Age reindeer hunters in the Paleolithic (12,000 BC). In the large forest areas north of Bittelbrunn there are also numerous barrows from the Hallstein Age. The community is first mentioned in a document in 1339.
Bittelbrunn was incorporated into Engen on December 1, 1971.

- In Bittelbrunn there are some old half-timbered houses and a moated castle , Bittelbrunn Castle .
- The Ice Age Park is located in the nearby "Brudertal" . The Petersfels Cave and the Gnir Cave , which were inhabited as early as the Stone Age , are among the outstanding sites in Germany. The so-called "Petersfeltage" take place every two years. On their occasion, demonstrations take place in the Ice Age Park and cave tours are offered. World and European championships for prehistoric hunting weapons take place at the same time.
