Spring mosses and small waterfalls can be found in the source area of the Bittenbacher Graben. The near-natural brook first flows through an ash forest , which slowly turns into a ravine forest . On the edges of the rocky cliffs an ample Farnflora grows with lobed shield ferns and strip ferns Braunstieligen . In its further course it is lined with alder trees.
After it has left the forest, it flows through orchards and poor pastures . Semi-arid grass grows on its steep and shallow slopes .
In the area of the mouth, the stream is heavily straightened and partly piped. The purity of its water there is severely impaired by the adjacent corn fields.
