Bixio Bossi (born September 29, 1896 in Lugano ; † December 30, 1990 , free thinker , entitled to live in Lugano) was a Swiss politician (FDP) .

biography

Bixio Bossi was born on September 29, 1896 in Lugano, the son of the editor and politician Emilio Bossi . He took a degree in law in Bern and Geneva , which he obtained with the academic degree of Dr. iur. completed. Subsequently, Bossi worked as a lawyer and notary . Bossi also taught Swiss law in Pavia in the 1930s . He also founded the Rotary Club of Lugano and presided over the Ticino ACS from 1942 to 1971.

He was married to Ginevra, the daughter of Virgilio Lampugnani. Bixio Bossi died on December 30, 1990 at the age of 94 in Lugano.

Political career

Bossi, a member of the FDP Switzerland, was part of the city government of Lugano from 1924 to 1932. At the cantonal level, he worked in the Ticino Grand Council from 1922 to 1947 . In addition, Bossi was represented in the National Council between 1931 and 1942 and in the Council of States between 1942 and 1969 , which he chaired from December 3, 1951 to December 1, 1952. In addition, he presided over the liberal party alternately with Arnaldo Bolla from 1921 to 1946 .

Bixio Bossi was one of the most important representatives of the right, anti-socialist wing. His position of "non-perception" in the confrontation with fascism contributed to the crisis of his party, which culminated in 1934 when the democratic wing split off.
