Blackburn is a village in the center of the Scottish Council Area West Lothian or in the traditional county of Linlithgowshire . It is located not far from Bathgate , about eight kilometers south-west of Livingston and south of Linlithgow am Almond .
history
The village developed with the textile spinning mill. To the east of Blackburn, the mansion Blackburn House was probably built in 1771 . In the middle of the 19th century coal was mined around Blackburn. The politically induced increase in the attractiveness of life in the greater Glasgow area with the emergence of various planned cities increased the attractiveness of Blackburn, also through jobs in the nearby Bathgate . In particular, the closure of the British Leyland factory ended the upward trend.
In 1861 there were 758 people in Blackburn. After the population had risen to 7,636 by 1971, it declined by 2001. In 2011, 5,338 people lived in Blackburn again.
