Blair Jones (born September 27, 1986 in Central Butte , Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who was last briefly under contract with HC Sparta Prague .
Career
Blair Jones began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League , in which he was active from 2002 to 2006 for the Red Deer Rebels and Moose Jaw Warriors . During this period he was selected in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft in the fourth round as a total of 102nd player by the Tampa Bay Lightning . In the 2006/07 season , the center made its debut for Tampa Bay in the National Hockey League , but played mostly for its then farm team Springfield Falcons from the American Hockey League (AHL). In the following four and a half years he ran regularly for Tampa Bay in the NHL, but was mostly on the ice for its new AHL farm team Norfolk Admirals .
In January 2012 Jones was transferred to the Calgary Flames in exchange for Brendan Mikkelson , where he was a regular in the NHL until the end of the 2011/12 season. After two years, his contract in Calgary was not renewed, so he joined the Philadelphia Flyers in July 2014 , where he is mainly used in the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in the AHL.
After a year in Philadelphia, he switched to the organization of the Vancouver Canucks , which used him exclusively in the AHL. For the 2016/17 season he decided to move to Europe and signed an annual contract with the Iserlohn Roosters from the German Ice Hockey League . On January 17, 2017, Jones was suspended from the Roosters. The club justified the move as follows: “Last Sunday, from the point of view of the sporting management, the Canadian once again allowed himself a completely unnecessary foul in a league game, was then put off the ice with a major penalty and thus has his own team-mate and harmed the sporting ambitions of the Iserlohn Roosters. ”Ten days later the contract between the Iserlohners and Jones was terminated. After Alexandre Bolduc's long-term failure , the Kölner Haie reacted and signed him.
In December 2018 he received a trial contract with HC Sparta Prague under head coach Uwe Krupp . However, this was disbanded after only six games in which he scored a goal.
