Blanche Baker
Blanche Baker (* 20th December 1956 as Blanche Joy Garfein in New York ) is an American actress .
Life
Blanche Baker, the daughter of actress Carroll Baker and director Jack Garfein , studied at Wellesley College from 1974 to 1976 .
She made her acting debut in 1978 at the age of 21. In Marvin J. Chomsky's drama Holocaust - The History of the Weiss Family , she played the girl "Anna Weiss", who was raped by the National Socialists and who suffered a severe mental disorder. Anna is gassed as an " unworthy " life . For her portrayal, Baker received an Emmy in the category "Best Female Supporting Actress".
In the 1979 Bible adaptation Mary and Joseph: A Story of Faith , she played the female title role. She appeared as a guest actress in four series, including Law & Order . In 1990 Baker played the role of Ofglen in The Handmaid's Tale . Despite her promising career start, she stood in front of the camera in only 15 other productions until the 1990s - most recently in 1994 in Dead Funny , a drama by John Feldman . Since 2005 she has been in front of the camera more often.
She has been married to the director Bruce Van Dusen since 1983 , with whom she has three children. Since 1996 she has been exhibiting sculptures of all kinds in exhibitions under her current name Blanche Van Dusen.
